Hello Chanel.. yes I love you

Dear Chanel,
Why and how are you so perfect in every way? Is it cliche' to love you as deeply and sincerly as I do?
Perhaps I should be ashamed of my admiration, yet somehow I cannot help but shout it from the roof tops. Yes, Chanel, I love you, dearly, hopelessly, endlessly, unabashadley. I do.

As Sincere as I can be,

xx j

Missing The Fall...

I will be skipping Fall 2010 completely! And Fall is my favorite season of the year.
August 1st I will be leaving the peak of summer heat in New York and entering the end of the winter season in southern Africa. It should get pretty warm while I am there, might even be visiting Burundi in the peak hot and rainy season (planned that well!) and will return to New York, December 1st just in time for the Christmas cold!
I will miss the Fall 2010 fashions.. although, I suppose my trip to Africa will be well worth the loss..
Until next year.

Spring time in the Cape!

Ok Ok.. I know, I apologize for not posting my weekend pictures! They are sooo glorious too, I cannot wait to share them. I just didn't have time last night between cooking meals for the week, getting my ass kicked by Ashley B at the gym and winding down from my mega drama packed day. Alas, they will have to wait!
But, for now, I am dreaming of summer dresses.. it's been excruciatingly hot here in NYC, and I am left dreaming of a Mozambican winter. However, it will be spring by the time I reach South Africa and I am currently lusting over this dress. Might just purchase it for hot days in Cape Town.
Whattaya think?

The Almighty Jump Suite

How adorable is this jump suite??
Of course I would belt it and wear it with plenty of gold bangles and gold sandals..
If only I could afford such a darling piece.

Un Homme et Une Femme

Exhausted, coming home from the gym last night, I was thrilled to see a local white wine chilling in the fridge and a new NetFlix awaiting me on top of the mail pile. Popping in the DVD "A Man and A Woman" or "Un Homme et Une Femme" I didn't quite know what I was getting into, reading the short description via NetFlix I didn't even know when the film was made. However, I ended up being ecstatic at the outcome.

This charming french film made by Claude LeLouch, made in 1966, is what he calls, an accident and a miracle. A love story about a widow and a widower whose children go to the same boarding school. They meet by chance as their unfolding relationship begins it's journey on a long ride home to Paris. LeLouch does a brilliant job of dealing with the tension of parenthood and past loves as he tackles the development of this growing relationship. With sparse dialogue, distant establishing shots and lengthy flash back sequences, LeLouch seemed to accidentally create a new style of film. According to him, it was all due to a tight budget and a rushed shooting schedule. On the verge of financial ruin, "Un Homme et Une Femme" is the film that put LeLouch on the map and made him enough money to keep his production company afloat, enabling him to make over 30 more films throughout his career.
A thoroughly enjoyable experience. I might need to add this film to my collection. What a way to spend a Monday night.

Not to mention the stunning beauty of Anouk Amiee! For the first ten minutes of the film I couldn't tell when it was made. I realized it had either been made in the 60's or last year. The fashion was so stellar and timeless I wanted every piece that she wore. Specifically her stove pipe straight leg jeans, her suede, sherpa jacket and her numerous black backless dresses. Even her hair! It has given me fresh inspiration for my own bob.

Tie it... Dye it...

I'd like to introduce you to shabd.. it is a clothing line I have been lusting after for a couple years now. They started out with only a few items, the leggings were one of those items. I wanted the rust leggings so much that I'd look at them daily. Thinking they cost more than I was able to spend, I wish I would have laid out the cash because they now cost three times more than they did back then. I still love their gorgeous tie-dyed textiles. Just sooo pretty.

Partners in Crime

Speaking of Bags....
My favorite bag company, Mulberry has teamed up with Target to sell their styles at a much much cheaper price point.
Two years ago at the height of the recession I finally received my loooooong awaited Mulberry Mabel! I love it and can never get sick of it!
Since I purchased the Mabel I have been in dire need of the icon Bayswater. Many pictures below.
Perhaps one of you can buy me a cheap cheap version from Target when they come out this fall.
No telling where I will be there.. but could still be in Africa..without Mulberry and without Target.

Backpacks for Africa

I've been wanting a backpack for a while now and have decided I must have one for Africa.
These are the following that I have considered...
This is the Novella Bag by Collina Strada. I was afraid I wouldn't be able to find it here in NYC,
Because I only found it sold in LA boutiques. I contacted them directly and found out they're studio is here in the city! Alas, I was unable to purchase one due to the exorbitant price tag.. but I love it. There is a leather one as well.
Lovely.

Also considered the Duluth Pack.. it comes in lots of fun colors.

Alas,
The Baggu backpack is the one I chose due to the simple construction and cheap cheap price tag! It is the blue hanging below. I love it so much I also purchased a red Duck bag from Baggu last night.
Both will be great for lugging computer, camera and loot from the markets in Maputo.
